Story
I'm running in the 2023 Manchester Half Marathon to raise funds for the Pets at Home Foundation to help them continue supporting pets and people in need across the UK.
I last ran in any serious way back in 2017, since then my mental health has had to take priority over my physical health. I think it's fair to say that my little dog, Spock (who won't be doing any running with me due to the fact he loves to smell everything we walk/run past) has helped me massively over the last few years. The Foundation do a fantastic job of supporting people and pets in so many different ways (from grant making, providing funding for rescue centres to assisting in ensuring pets and owners can stay together) to help achieve their mission, to create a better world for pets and the people who love them, and I'm proud to be supporting such a great cause.
My world is certainly a better place just for having Spock around!
This could prove to be a bit of a challenge as I battle my way back to some sort of fitness, but I'll be giving it my all to do the best I can. Who knows, maybe I'll even achieve my goal from a few years ago and run the half in less than 2 hours!
While I'll be particularly bad at updating things here, you could follow my progress on Strava if you really wanted to see what I'm working with! https://www.strava.com/athletes/3381053
