Story

Hi guys on September the 13th 2009 I will be taking part in the Nottingham marathon as part of the Experian Robin Hood Festival of Running.

I will be running on behalf of the charity 'Maggie's' who are trying to raise £500 000 so that one of their famed Maggie's centres can be opened at the Nottingham City hospital site.

My Great Aunty Joan is the inspiration behind my decision to raise money for Maggie's. She has battled with spinal cancer for several years and late last year, after months of remission, she was diagnosed with this disease for the second time.

She probably wouldn't like me telling you this, but at the age of 74, she continues to live her life as though she were a teenager full of enthusiasm and optimisim. She truly  is a remarkable woman.

She believes that the proposed opening of a Maggie's centre in Nottingham would provide fantastic support to those living with cancer and their relatives in the local area.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Maggie's Centres gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
