Thank you for visiting this page.
My name is Wazifa (aka Shafali) and I am raising funds for my unfortunate cousin's cancer treatment (no amount is too small).
Human Relief Foundation has kindly agreed to pay the hospital bills directly from the money raised here. Let me start by introducing my cousin Shelina Akthar and her plight.
Background
Shelina lives in Bangladesh and comes from a poor family of three brothers and two sisters, she lost her mother at a very young age and her father is disabled with no regular income or assets. Her brothers are manual labourers with very modest earnings. Thus, she lived in austerity and often depended on handouts from friends and family.
However, there was a hope of happiness in her life two years ago, when she married Rahim (an Electrician). Within a year, she gave birth to a beautiful baby girl whom they named ‘Maisha’.
Turn of tides
Unfortunately the family's happiness was short lived; as she was diagnosed with advanced stage of cancer just two months after the birth.
The extended family and friends, who themselves are of limited means collected funds for her treatment. Her tumour was removed successfully in Dhaka and she was prescribed chemotherapy. However, on further scans the hospital found another small tumour, which was also subsequently removed.
Even though the major portion of the expenses was met by relatives and friends, by now the family have exhausted all assets of little value they had. Thus, currently all treatment is on hold.
The Appeal
Your donation would help history from repeating itself. Otherwise Maisha will face a future without her mother as she will find herself in exactly the same circumstances that Shelina grew up. Although there is a real chance of Shelina getting well and enjoying life with baby and family, their lack of financial means stands in the way. All the people who have helped her time and again during her ordeal, including myself have used up all that they can spare and much more.
The projected cost of chemotherapy for three months not including other medical fees, travel, accommodation and boarding is about £3,000 and £5000 should see Shelina through six months of care.
This is not just mine but also Maisha’s heartfelt appeal on behalf of Shelina and her young family. Without financial help there is no other option but to give up on her treatment and wait in agony for her to die.
Maisha desperately needs your support to help her have a better chance in life. Please help and save this young mother from an early, painful death as there is absolutely no help forthcoming from elsewhere. I wish you many good returns for your one good deed!
