Story
The Weald Community wants to say a MASSIVE thank you to our local NHS key workers. We have decided to support the charity ‘Sussex Community NHS Trust Charitable Fund and Other Related Charities’. Their fantastic charity like many is raising funds to directly support the battle against coronavirus right here in Sussex. Building on, and inspired by many schools and organisations locally and nationally we would like to do our bit too.
Here is our challenge to you.
We are asking students/parents/carers/staff/governors (anyone linked with The Weald Community) to complete a 5k. This could be a run, jog, cycle or even a walk and be part of, (or all of!!) your daily exercise in accordance with the latest government guidelines. If this isn’t possible then we would encourage you to think of ways that you can do it indoors, such as on an exercise bike, rowing machine or if you’ve been inspired by Captain Tom Moore, laps of the garden. You may wish to be really creative with your 5k and dance and skip it, how you complete the ‘5km’ is entirely up to you, we want everyone to join in however they can - most importantly raising money for our superb local hospitals.
Please note students should only take part if
- They have permission from a parent/carer
- Are fit and well do to so (i.e. not in self-isolation or have any other medical condition that could be triggered by exercise)
- If they can fit this in as part of the once-daily allowed exercise away from home.
How to donate
There is a just giving page that has been set up
What you wish to donate is down to you, £5 for 5K, or £1 for each minute that it takes you, our some ideas, however any support though to the charity big or small would be greatly appreciated.
In addition to your contribution please share with your family and friends, get them to complete a 5k or to sponsor you on yours. All money will be sent straight to ‘Sussex Community NHS Trust Charitable Fund and Other Related Charities’.
We would love to hear and celebrate how you completed your 5K:
Any photos, mini video clips, or route maps (be careful not to record these starting and finishing at home for safeguarding reasons!!) can be shared on the your social media page using the hashtag #weald5k
Please share the just giving page on your social media, tagging and nominating people to do the challenge.
For added safety we recommend that, if you are a student going outside to do this that you go with a family member, it will make it safer, it may also make it more fun.
Good luck, be safe and have fun. Lets try and raise as much money as we can. #weald5k #proudoftheweald #cardiovscarona
