We fund research into type 1 diabetes to find a cure for type 1 diabetes

Story

In July 2015 when Henry was 10, he was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes and it changed his and our lives forever. Every day provides its own challenges, with no two days the same. Daily multiple  injections, blood glucose testing, carb counting, dealing with blood sugar highs and lows, it never goes away.

Raising money for the brilliant JDRF was a no brainer.  Being terrified of heights, the fundraising abseil seemed the perfect challenge to take on, proving to all that we won't let Type 1 get the better of us.

My good friend Tracey, who is equally afraid of heights,  very kindly agreed to take on the challenge with me. So the two of us, with huge trepidation, sweaty palms and sickness mounting already, are preparing for our 100m abseil.

Our driving force is the incredible work of the JDRF. Just last week I listened to research updates which will really make a difference within Henry's lifetime. The artificial pancreas, smart insulin, a new way of 'encapsulating' beta cells and implanting them in the body so they are not rejected (this is in human trials already) are just some of the exciting areas of research.
