Richard House Children’s Hospice supports children and their families in East London to lead as positive and happy a life as possible when dealing with a life-limiting health condition. Our services support the whole family, from residential clinical care, to music therapy to end of life care.

Story

On Sunday 18 September, 6 hardy Weil warriors - known not particularly inventively, as the Weil Wonders A and B Teams - will take to "Dangerous" Dorney Lake to swim, cycle and run to glory for the worthy souls at Richard House in the annual HSBC relay triathlon.

This is no mean feat; most of the team struggle to even tie their own shoe laces/clip in their pedals/snap on their speedos each morning when a big dose of exercise comes a-calling, so the thought of a 1.5km swim in open water, 40km bike ride and 10km run (not jog) has certainly tested the mettle of each Wonder.

To outline the participants in each of his/her glory:

A Team

In the water: Lindsay "Barracuda" Germano;

On the bike: Alicia "Too fast to" Speake;

On the track: James "Chambers sans Tetrahydrogestrinone" Ralph.

B Team

In the water: Nick "The Swim" Flynn;

On the bike: Jeremy "Boardman" Smith;

On the track: Alexandra "The Sprinter" Winter.

As a further incentive to make you dip into your pockets and donate generously, we're also asking that each donor states (a) which team they are back to win in this clash of the titans; and (b) an appropriate forfeit for the losers (for example, agreeing to wear tighty-tighty triathlon gear around the office the day after the event). And if that won't get the teams training big for the next few weeks, then nothing will.
