Historic Environment Scotland have partnered with Shakti Women’s Aid as our charity partner for 2022.

Shakti Women’s Aid have almost 30 years of experience helping BME women, children and young people who experience domestic abuse in Scotland. Shakti provide support through emergency accommodation, practical advice such as explaining legal options and  rights, as well as running outings and events for children and  young people affected by domestic violence.

Many of the people who need Shakti’s help are experiencing extreme  poverty, so even a little bit of money can make a huge difference and  help people retain their dignity in times of extreme crisis and  uncertainty.

• £2.50 will buy a woman who has just left home a coffee - a small hug in a mug
• £10 will buy stationary and school supplies for a child who has experienced domestic abuse
• £15 will buy essential toiletries for a woman who has had to leave home, taking nothing with her
• £40 will pay for a mum or a child to go to a counselling session
• £100 will provide a starter kit for a woman who has just left an abusive relationship
