Story

Hi, we are the Wellington College Channel Swim team, our names, from left to right in the photo, are: Dom Martin, Mike Bamber, Lucas Ovsyannikov (back), Kelly Brick (front), Annabelle Turner, Cordelia Vesely, Fabia Maramotti and Ellie Melville.

We are planning to swim the English Channel as a relay on 7 July 2013. Allowing for tides the distance is likely to be 30 miles; this will take us about 12 hours and some of the swim may be during the hours of darkness. Under Channel Swimming and Piloting Federation regulations we can wear one swimsuit only, a single swimming cap and goggles but not wetsuits.

We have been training intensively in cold water for several weeks in the Wellington College outdoor pool, in Mychett Lake, in Dover and in Hope Cove, Devon. This has included acclimatising to extreme cold, seaweed, jellyfish, high waves and seasickness.
