Wellington College is keen to support the expertise and energy of charitable organisations. We do this by raising money throughout the academic year, through fundraising intitiatives led by our students and staff. We hope that you will be inspired by our campaigns.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page and for donating to the Jimmy Higham Memorial Fund. Never having done a triathlon before, we are hoping to complete the ultimate endurance event - the Outlaw Ironman - a 2.4 mile swim, followed by a 112 mile bike ride and, just to prove that we are really made of steel, a 26.2 mile run.

Jimmy was a colleague and friend of ours who, at the age of 26, died in December from cancer. An inspirational teacher and rugby coach, Jimmy believed passionately in young people and wanted them to enjoy the opportunity he had to be able to attend Rossall School in his Sixth Form after being awarded a bursary. Through donations and fundraising activities by members of the College and Jimmy's friends, we are aiming to raise an initial £800,000 which will form the basis of the fund.

Jimmy's courage and determination that was evident until the very end of his life inspires us daily to get on our bikes, plough up and down the pool and run long distances through the Berkshire woodland. Please dig deep and support us in our challenge and help us to help change the lives of young people by giving them an educational opportunity that they would not otherwise be able to afford.

Thank You - Fiona, Grace & Delyth

26/4/12: A MASSIVE thank you to TLC sports who have agreed to sponsor us in the way of kit and energy gels! We are really grateful. Check out their website here: http://www.tclsports.co.uk/
