Story
Save the UK's Charities. General fundraising has been hit very hard by the COVID-19 pandemic. Thousands of fundraising events have been cancelled and many charities, particularly smaller ones, are struggling to maintain services because of this huge reduction in income. This impacts all sectors of society, from children to elderly people, as well as the vital work in areas such as palliative care, serious diseases, mental health, housing support, food supplies and countless others that charities support.
I am climbing Ben Newe, the hill opposite my house, every day for 26 days, starting today 26 April, with my enthusiastic and way-more-energetic-than-me dog-partner Chloe.
My chosen charity is UK UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency. UNHCR is on the ground in some of the most dangerous places in the world. It works to provide refugees, who have been forced to flee their homes by war, violence and persecution, with the essential things they need to survive, such as food, shelter and health care.
