I'm going to be undertaking a 6 day trek up to Machu Picchu (away from the standard tourist route) in aid of National Autistic Society who work to support the 700,000 autistic people in the UK and their families. They work to transform lives and change attitudes to create a society that works for autistic people. I am embarking on this challenge to raise public awareness and get people talking about how they could be more understanding and considerate, as well as directly offering support through donations to the charity.

Statistically there are 1 in 100 people in the UK who are on the autistic spectrum, meaning you probably know someone personally affected as it is quite common. Autistic people may struggle to socialize and interact with their surrounding environment often due to a sensory overload. However, as autism is a spectral disorder, it impacts each individual's life very differently, and can be easily misunderstood. Your donations will not only support the development of specialist schools and resources, but also help the charity to fight for the rights of autistic people and their families which are neglected in many policies and legislations.

I welcome and appreciate anything, big or small, that you can contribute to my fundraising initiative.
