Story

Hello and thank you for visiting our fundraising page. We wanted to let you know our diary of fundraising events that will be taking place between now and the Great Wall of China trek in May 2007.  Neither of us have actually done any major fundraising before or taken part in a trek so it is all new and extremely daunting for both of us. We plan to keep updating this page and let you know our experiences along the way.  So please dig deep and sponsor us online.

Every 48 hours, 10 children are diagnosed with cancer or leukaemia. CLIC Sargent acts as a lifeline keeping families together when the unimaginable happens.    The charity provides clinical, psychosocial, emotional and financial support to those children and young people and their families.  All their services are funded entirely through fundraising and voluntary contributions, your help really does make a difference.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor us: CLIC Sargent will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

So please sponsor us now! every penny really does make a difference.

Many thanks for your support.

11th June - WE have just returned from our first fundraising event - the car boot sale.  We set off around 6am with a fully loaded car (only just managed to squeeze ourselves in).  The weather was glorious and must have been in the 80's.all day, unfortunately no shade - we never thought to take a sun umberella like alot of the regular traders (note to be made for next time!).  We managed to set up pretty quickly and had a really good day.  Some people were extremely generous and gave donations without buying anything. We finally started to pack away about 12.30/1.00ish having sold more than half of our stuff.  WE had a great day and with plenty of lofts still to be emptied  we will definately be doing another! Total raised £107.00

9th July -  We have just returned home from the Gala.  I am shattered so will tell you all about it later! Total Raised £57.37- Had another great day and another early start.  As neither of us have ever had a stall at a gala before it was yet another first for us both.  We had decided that we would have a tombola stall as we had a number of brand new items that people had donated to us.  We also did 'name the teddy' and had a variety of kids crafts on offer that the children could decorate such as fridge magnets, bookmarks, wind chimes and badges.  The weather was ok (at least it didn't rain) although it was quite windy and our Gazebo nearly took off a couple of times.  Special thanks to our friend Yolande who came and helped out for a couple of hours.

15th July - Another shattering but brilliant day - this one was for the kids.  In a moment of madness I had agreed to a Teddy Bears Picnic at my house for 40 children (thankfully the weather was glorious).  We supplied a picnic lunch for each child and put on food for the adults.  There were tattoos, hook a duck, hidden straws, colouring and face painting.  We also hid 40 teddies around the garden so each child went home with a small teddy bear.  The main event was a sponsored trampoline bounce.  Each child had 60 seconds to do as many bounces as they could and the winners (under and over 5) each won a large teddy bear - the kids loved this and they collected loads in sponsorship money- Total Raised £303.92
