Haswell and District Mencap are a charity aimed at providing services, activities and support to people with a learning disability, their families and carers and the wider community.

Story

Well, the madness has finally happened and I am about to embark on my first marathon.  Training is going well so far - photo opposite is of myself and my other mad marathon friend, Jayne, after the Great North Run, end of September.  Over the next few weeks, we have a few 18 mile runs planned in - please let me know if you fancy tagging along! :-)  So as long as we stay injury free, we are on target.

The charity I am running for is Haswell & District Mencap and all money raised will go directly to them in the North East.  This branch is run by extended family members and provides much needed support for children and adults in the area with learning disabilities.  After a lot of years of hard work by a number of dedicated people, they have recently opened a brand new centre in Haswell which is an amazing achievement.  The money raised here will go towards building a new rainbow fountain which will provide light, sound and sensory opportunities for children and adults with profound multiple learning disabilities.

Every penny raised will go directly to Haswell and will not be covering my flight or hotel or my planned shopping spree in Tiffany's!!

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Haswell & District Mencap Society will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

So please sponsor me now!

Many thanks for your support.
