WMAMP Ramadan Experience 2022

Ramadhan Challenge · 1 April 2022
The Ramadan Experience is where colleagues from all
sectors are invited to join Muslim Police Officers in observing a fasting day(s) from Dawn until Sunset. A key element to Ramadan is to be reflective of one’s own state in comparison to that of the less fortunate and give to those in need. We appreciate their journey and adopt the principle where less is ultimately more.
The Ramadan experience sees colleagues also donating a typical day’s lunch spend to charity (approximately £5)
The nominated charity this year is the Trussell Trust who are working to eradicate food poverty. A key principle in Islam is to reflect on the needs of the poor and needy. More and more people are being forced to use food banks because they cannot afford the basics in life. Last year, food banks in the Trussell Trusts network provided 1.6 million three-day emergency food parcels to people in crisis, with over 500,000 of these going to children. This was an increase of almost 20% on the previous year.
During the pandemic, a surging number of people have
utilised the support of food banks. Resulting in their resources becoming increasingly stretched due to the additional demand.
Supporting the charity will ensure the trust can continue providing essential community services during these unprecedented time.
Let’s get together to not only experience what Muslim
colleagues/friends/family are feeling but also what a lack of sustenance and food has on those who do not have it readily available to them
