Year 8 students at The Westgate School have decided to support Cancer Research UK for their Westgate 6 Charity Project this half term. Through their compassion and care during these challenging times , year 8 students are creatively fundraising by collaboratively remote working to raise money for a cause that has touched so many of their families, Cancer Research UK.

The students researched and chose the charity being supported within Westgate 6 lessons and they will now come up with their own ideas for how to raise support. As we are in Lockdown this means they will need to think of new creative ways to raise awareness of their cause compared to the traditional ideas people have when they think of raising money for charity. However it will all go towards a good cause in helping to support a charity which is important to so many people since 1 in 2 people in the UK will be diagnosed with cancer at some point in their lives. It will also benefit the students wellbeing while we are in lockdown, giving them something positive to strive for.
