Weybridge Male Voice Choir Sing For CALM · 22 May 2020

We’re Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM), and we’re a suicide prevention charity. We host a helpline for people affected by suicide, as well as vital online resources for anyone who needs them.

Story

We have all come together virtually to mark Mental Health Awareness Week and raise money for the charity CALM. With male suicides being the main killer for men under 45 in the UK and the cause of 18 deaths every day we want to say, "It is okay not to be okay" and to share our performance which has brought so much joy to our male voice choir members.

Our singers rely on the community spirit and camaraderie of our weekly rehearsals for good mental health and during lockdown this has had to stop but it's not stopped us singing together virtually and making music together. Our listeners have enjoyed us singing this over the past few years and has always stood out as a favourite. Listen out for the last words of our performance of the amazing Bring Him Home from the musical, Les Misérables.

The Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM) is leading a movement against suicide, the single biggest killer of men under 45 in the UK. Our goal is a life less miserable for you, your friends, your family and for all men.CALM PROVIDES> A free and anonymous helpline 0800 58 58 58 and webchat (5pm-12am daily) staffed by trained professionals> Bereavement support > A website www.theCALMzone.net with inspiring content> Campaigns tackling stereotypes of masculinity, suicide and mental health.
