Story
As many as you know, and for those of you that don't, my mother lost her battle with cancer on 3rd February 2014. I'm fundraising for Macmillan Cancer Support in her memory, by hiking up Ben Nevis at midnight on August 9th-10th.
There are many words to describe my mum; she was caring, strong, loving and kind. But the most appropriate word of all is one which the lady with whom my mum shared a room with in hospital, and for only a few days at that, used: inspiring. Nothing could be truer. My mum inspired me, my brothers, and the rest of her family and friends to not only to do more, but to be more, to become the best we could be. This hike is just one example of this inspiration.
For someone who basically does no exercise (and struggles to walk up Gibson St!) this will certainly be a challenging experience - but one I look forward to. I appreciate all donations, be it a little or a large amount, and thank you for those who do.
I need to raise £375 to do the challenge, at least 65% of which will definitely go to Macmillan. Anything over and above that amount will go to the charity in its entirety.
