Story
Dorothy House, provider of compassionate care and support for people with life-limiting illnesses, celebrates its 40th anniversary this year and Wood for Trees is running or participating in several events to raise money in support of this local charity.
On Saturday 5th August a team of intrepid
cyclists across Wood for Trees and My Life Digital are setting out from Dorothy House HQ in Winsley near Bradford on Avon with the task of cycling to every Dorothy House shop that day. With 25 shops across Wiltshire and Somerset, this is no mean feat and will involve covering 130 miles with 8,250 feet of elevation and a very early start. Selfies will be taken at each shop to prove attendance, and there is the hope of good weather, light winds and much icecream. For those not up to the whole route, the option of joining for one of the five separate segments allows a more social and inclusive element to the day, with the main aim to get round all the shops with as many people joining in as practically possible. The ride will end back at Dorothy House HQ before filling tired bodies and empty stomachs with pizza and chocolate milk…and maybe
a beer or two. The planned route can be viewed at the following link: http://www.strava.com/routes/6209252
.
The services Dorothy House provide across their hospice and outreach centres are free for patients and their families, ensuring that patients and their families receive the right care at the right time. However, for every £1.00 they receive from the NHS they need to raise £4.00 to keep the doors open. Any contribution that you feel able to make will be hugely appreciated – and Just Giving is a safe and secure way to express your support for the great work that they do.
