Ride of the Roses 2009 · 5 September 2009

The King’s Trust supports 11 to 30 year-olds who are unemployed or struggling at school to get their lives on track. Many of the young people we support are in or leaving care, have been in trouble with the law, or they are facing challenges such as homelessness or mental health issues.

Story

Thanks for visiting my Prince's Trust Page.

So why do it, and why a photo of me going up a long hill?  Over the years I've cycled on and off and still ride my 30 year old Holdsworth, I'm nearing 50 with a sedentary job.  I noticed my weight increasing along with the apathy.

For the past three years the British Heart Foundation has organised the Lancaster to York bike ride to raise funds for research and to help victims.  It's a 100 mile ride of this and other hills!  It's worth noting the UK has one of the highest rates of death from heart disease in the world - one British adult dies from the disease every three minutes!

Please split your donation between this and my BHF page as they have organised this event.

As for the photo, I don't have much choice...  I live at the top of this hill!
