Introducing – The Whale Burger
As a last ditch attempt to encourage a new generation of whale consumers, pro-whaling countries, like Japan, have turned to fast food in a bid to rekindle what is, to the majority of the world, an out-of-date and unpopular industry.
Tomato ketchup, relish, lettuce and cucumber are all being used to hide the pungent taste of the traditional whale steak that’s been putting the younger generation off for years. But even the tastiest condiments can’t hide the fact that, chances are, it’s an endangered species between the bread.
With so many threats to cetacean survival, it’s disturbing that a few are so intent on continuing the slaughter
It’s an unfortunate fact that the many threats facing whales worldwide continue to grow. Ship strikes, entanglement in fishing nets, pollution and the acidification of the sea due to climate change all add up to a potentially disastrous forecast.
Combined, these threats represent hundreds of thousands of cetacean deaths each year. But of all the threats to the majestic great whales, commercial whaling - possibly the most grave - remains the one that we can stop now.
We urgently need your help to make sure consumption doesn’t get the better of conservation
