'What Are You Doing New Year's Eve' - for MSF · 31 December 2017

Médecins Sans Frontières / Doctors Without Borders (MSF) is the world's leading medical humanitarian aid organisation. We work in over 70 countries - in conflict zones, natural disasters and epidemics. We are independent, neutral and impartial. We provide medical care where it's needed most.

Story

Hello and welcome,

Thank you for visiting our fundraising page for MSF.

Early 2017 began with a personal challenge I set myself to run a half-marathon to raise money for Médecins Sans Frontières [Doctors Without Borders]. In our combined efforts - my running and your generous donations - we raised over £1000 to support the work of this incredible charity.

If you are new to MSF, it is an international, independent, medical humanitarian organisation. It delivers emergency aid to people affected by armed conflict, epidemics, healthcare exclusion and natural or man-made disasters; and does so irrespective of race, religion, creed or political convictions.

As the year draws to a close I wanted to create something special to once again support MSF. I am delighted to share the news with you that I will be collaborating with a group of talented friends and creatives to record a version of the classic Jazz standard 'What Are You Doing New Year's Eve?'; to be released on new year's eve - providing we reach our fundraising target, which I'm sure, with your help we will do!

This time of the year is my favourite - being close with family and friends, sharing happiness together. I am reflecting on this time and thinking of the stark contrast of the reality that so many will be facing in some of the most devastatingly traumatic, difficult and sad places. Time doesn't stop and neither does the pain felt by everyone MSF is working so hard to help. By choosing this song it was some small way of showing our thoughts are with others as we enter 2018 and that we can take action by making a contribution together.

Your donations cannot be measured by great or small, for any amount is more than before, and for this, myself and those involved with the project, are so grateful.

I'm so excited to record this classic and share it with you all. I'd like to introduce you to, and thank the project's contributors here:

Lloyd Haines - drums, Alex Haines - guitar, Chris Hyson - bass, Alex Killpartrick - production, Ariane Haas - cover art

Once again, I know we can achieve something great in our joint contribution and want to thank you in advance for your donations.

I wish you all a joyful and peaceful New Year.

Stephanie O
