Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
The 4 of us have signed up to Trailwalker 2021 to walk 100km along the South Downs in 30 hours or less. We're walking to raise money for The Gurkha Welfare Trust and Oxfam. Those of you who know us know that this will be no easy feat! (pun intended). Please help us reach our target of £1400.
Exercise TRAILWALKER started out as a military training exercise in Hong Kong in 1981. Organised by the Queen’s Gurkha Signals, and taking place along the famous Maclehose Trail, the exercise sought to test the endurance and teamwork of soldiers of the Queen’s Gurkha Signals over a long and arduous course.
In 1986, Trailwalker was opened to civilian participation for the first time, and now, following the move of the Queen’s Gurkha Signals to the UK, the 100k event takes place across the South Downs, with hundreds of civilians setting off alongside the Gurkhas.
The Gurkha Welfare Trust ensures Gurkha veterans, their widows and their wider communities are able to live with dignity in their home-country of Nepal.
Oxfam is a global movement of people fighting the injustice of poverty around the world.
