Pendleside Hospice believes in nurturing and caring for those in our local community affected by advancing long term and life limiting illness, through to end of life care and bereavement, by providing a range of comprehensive and easily accessible services to support them on their journey.

Story

Distance so far: 218 miles (351 km)

I will be UNICYCLING, on and off-road, between April and October 2013 to raise £500 for Pendleside Hospice.

I will update my 'Distance so far' count on this page after each ride.

I have a BLOG at #mce_temp_url# and a FaceBook page at #mce_temp_url#

Why Am I Doing This??

I had never UniCycled before in my life, so why did I decide at 52 years old to learn to ride one for Pendleside Hospice?

My Mother would have told you that it's because I'm "daft", which has always been true. She was a wonderful woman, loved by everyone who knew her, who spent years donating items and money to Pendleside, although she was taken suddenly by her cancer just before Christmas, 2012, and never got to use their excellent support service or facilities.

I want to honour her memory and continue fundraising in her name, but I'm the sort of person who needs a challenge too - hence the UNICYCLE!

It took me around 4 weeks to learn to ride the Unicycle at a basic level and, since then, I've ridden it around the Town Centre, up at Towneley Woods, along the Padiham Greenway, on Blackpool Promenade and over the Pennine Bridleway - keep an eye out for me and say hello! I have a LOT more practice to do before I'm ready for the long rides once the good weather gets here.

I will post details of the events I take part in here and update with pictures. Feel free to come along and cheer me on and, obviously, please donate whatever you can afford to Pendleside Hospice so more people can benefit from their care and attention.
