Wheels 4 Meals UK – supported by Coronation Street’s Cherylee Houston
The Wheels 4 Meals 1km challenge is a fantastic new way of raising money for FareShare, the charitable network that redistributes surplus food to frontline charities and community groups.
Anyone can take part in the Meals 4 Wheels UK challenge. All you need to do is travel 1km in any way that involves wheels. That might be in your wheelchair or mobility scooter. You might be
pushing a pram, on roller skates, on a skateboard, or on your bike. And you can complete it in your home, your school, your garden or in any safe public space outdoors. The choice is yours.
Meals 4 Wheels UK is supported by Coronation Street actor and disability campaigner Cherylee Houston who says:
“I think Wheels 4 Meals UK is a brilliant idea. Everyone deserves to have enough to eat, and this is a healthy, inclusive way for everyone to get involved in raising money to make sure that no one goes short this Christmas.”
Meals 4 Wheels UK creator Jackie Handy says:
“Christmas is coming and that gives us all the opportunity to act together to make sure that no-one goes hungry and to help everyone enjoy the Christmas they deserve. I wanted to create event that everyone could participate in, regardless of their mode of travel, an event that supports our fitness, mental wellbeing and sense of community. And that’s how Wheels 4 Meals began!”
People can take part at any time between 1st and 30th November 2020. But the earlier you complete the challenge, the more
opportunity there will be for the funds raised to be distributed in time for Christmas.
We’re asking you to make a £5 minimum donation
to take part in Wheels 4 Meals UK, with all proceeds going to FareShare.
We’ve also created a Wheels 4 Meals UK Facebook
page: https://www.facebook.com/groups/851720852268702.
To help spread the word we’re encouraging everyone who
takes part in the challenge to take a photo or video and to post it on social media using the hashtag #WheelsForMealsUK.
