We initially got involved with Greatwood through a William Hill initiative called Different Perspectives - about how giving just a little of your time or effort can make a massive difference to people in need. 

We have volunteered and helped out at the charity a few times now, mainly with physical help, where many hands make light work.

But at the basis of every charity is the need for money to fund the work they do. Particularly this year, with such terrible weather, the costs for a charity such as Greatwood have spiralled as the horses require more stabling and attention rather than living out in the fields.

So, we've come up with a couple of challenges to help raise some vital funds.

Firstly, Jennie and Haydn will be running a half-marathon on the 26th May. Then less than a week later, the whole team - Jennie, Haydn, Lili, Natalie and Barbara - plus some special guests along the way - will be attempting to walk the 87 miles of the Ridgeway National Trail, which runs from Ivinghoe Beacon in Bucks to Overton Hill, Wiltshire, a stone's throw away from Greatwood, in a four day challenge.

The dates co-incide with Greatwoods 20th anniversary, so the plan is to arrive at the stables on Sunday 2nd June, for it's anniversary celebrations and annual Open Day.

We will also along the way have other people join in and will no doubt need plenty of help with the logistics, so we will thank and acknowledge everyone where we can and will update this page to represent everyones contributions.

So if anything will keep us going when we've got weary limbs and sore feet, it will be the knowledge that you have donated and that we are raising a terrific amount for the charity.
