The Baby Beat provides funding for the Sharoe Green Maternity Unit to ensure babies born within our community have the very best monitoring equipment during pregnancy and delivery. We also support research into stillbirths and premature labour in addition to bereavement support.

Story

To draw to a close an amazing fundraising year for Baby Beat. The third and final event will take place on the 9th September when Vicky will take part in the Great North Run half marathon in Newcastle.

On the 12th June 1988 my husband and I had a beautiful boy Gary at Sharoe Green Hospital.

He was immediately taken ill and had to be moved to Liverpool Maternity Hospital due to there being no available incubators at Preston.

Unfortunately, Gary took a turn for the worse and we got transferred back to Preston as we were told he was not going to survive.

My husband and I stayed in the Baby Beat Unit until sadly Gary lost his battle and passed away at 14 days old.

To commemorate what would have been his 30th Birthday my husband David Myself and our children Adam & Vicky are doing a sponsored walk from Liverpool Maternity Hospital to Sharoe Green Unit (Gary’s last journey). This is 33 miles.

Our Daughter Vicky is also competing in the Great North Run Half Marathon on Sunday 9th September 2018.

Thank you for your support from both the Whittam's and Baby Beat.
