Your Whole Self Portraits on Mental Health Awareness Day

Elena Clements is raising money for Mental Health Foundation

Our Whole Selves · 4 October 2021

The Mental Health Foundation believe no-one living in the UK should be deprived of the opportunity for good mental health because of who they are, the community they come from or where they live. We’re developing better ways to support good mental health in every community.

Story

The Disability, Ability & Wellbeing Network at City of London Corporation are raising money for the Mental Health Foundation. We are encouraging you to donate just £3 and submit your "Whole-Self Portrait".

We are made up of so many things and perhaps not everyone sees them when we are at work. This year, I am encouraging everyone to do a self-portrait added with words that make up who you are.

This could be an outline of a person filled with words that represent you, it could be a portrait of your face with features that give us a peak into your history, the possibilities are endless so please feel free to put your own spin on it in whatever medium you like!

It so important that we are thought of as full complex human beings, whatever our history. Let's work towards breaking the stigma of mental ill-health and remember that everyone is unique and has a unique past.

To enter, please donate just £3 and send your entry to elena.clements@gsmd.ac.uk

P.S Some of us are using ginger-bread cake as a template! Here is a free one here:
