Story
Team Walkden have successfully completed their charity bike ride in the allotted time, well done lads. The weather was mostly fair to them and the cycle was mostly enjoyed!
Also, a separate achievement that has raised money for When You Wish Upon a Star is our triumphant triathlon team! On Sunday 31st May, 11 female members of staff completed the Cheshire Relay triathlon. Each staff member completed one of the three disciplines including 500m swim, 20k cycle and 5km run and tagged the next person in the transition areas.
This was the first triathlon for all the staff involved and they were truly inspirational.
We are over the moon to announce that we have not only achieved our target but exceeded it; we are nearly at an amazing £8000; with your help we may just crack it!
Thank you all who have supported and donated your generosity has
granted the wish of a child and with a little extra help to reach £8000,
we will also be able to provide much needed support to a very worthy charity.

This year saw the launch of the Walkden High School Year 11 Charity. The charity chosen is ‘When You Wish Upon a Star’
When You Wish Upon a Star has a simple mission, to grant the Wishes of children living with a life threatening illness, aged 2-16 years.
Our Year 11’s set themselves a target of raising an amazing £7000 in one year. This would enable a child with a life threatening illness, and their family, to have a two week holiday of a lifetime in Florida, USA.
To date they/we have raised a magnificent total of £6256. This has been raised from a whole range of charity activities.
The final event to take place will see Mr Lennox, Mr Sims, Mr Lynn and Mr Moseley take on the challenge of cycling from John O’Groats to Lands End.
The challenge will be in the form of a relay, each member of staff will ride for 1 hour and then hand over to the next teacher. The challenge is to finish in 4 days. Mr Thomas and Mr Hodson have taken up the challenge of driving the school minibus for 2000 miles.
The event will start at John O’Groats on Sunday 24th May and finish at lands End on Wednesday 27th May 2015.
Any help you could give towards trying to raise the final target would be very much appreciated.
Thank you for your support.
Mr Moseley, all the staff at Walkden High and our Year 11.
