Story

After cycling 100 miles many times, I decided to have a go at walking 100 miles! In one go, with no sleep. And the West Highland Way, a 96-mile long distance route through the beautiful country I live in, seemed like a great route for the challenge (the plan was to add another 4 miles at the end, if I hadn't added it already by accidentally going the wrong way). I attempted the challenge in June, but unfortunately made the difficult decision to retire after 64 miles due to stomach issues. In September I went back to walk the rest of the route. It isn't the achievement I wanted, but it was important to me to complete the route in some form, both for myself and to hopefully raise a bit more money for my chosen charity, Barking Mad Dog Rescue.

Barking Mad Dog Rescue are a UK-based charity who rescue and rehome street dogs from Romania. Earlier this year I volunteered with them in Romania, and after seeing the amazing work they do and how in need the dogs are, I wanted to do more to help. For more information see their website: www.barkingmaddogrescue.co.uk.
