West Highland Way for Ukraine - Self Supported

West Highland Way · 7 April 2022
Terrible things are happening in Ukraine. Innocent civilians including women and children are being killed and residential buildings, hospitals and infrastructure are being bombed. Many civilians are being denied basic human rights such as food, warmth and medical care.
I realise one person can’t make a huge difference but we are with the people of Ukraine and I want to do everything I can to help as part of this show of solidarity therefore I’m taking on a challenge.
In April 2022 I take on the West Highland Way to raise money for the Disasters Emergency Committee. The committee involves 15 humanitarian charities who have pooled efforts to help the Ukrainians.
I will walk the 96 mile route from Milngavie to Fort William on 7th April 2022 and will be doing it the hard way. Completely self supported and camping at the end of each stage. I will not be using a tour company or baggage transfer service therefore everything must be carried.
I will no doubt be battered by the elements and struggle with blisters and other ailments along the way but I will get through it as it is nothing compared to the journey many Ukrainians are forced into taking as I write this.
Please donate what you can afford. We live privileged lives and whilst we sit down for our evening meal in our warm homes with our families there are children gathered together in the cold dark in the Ukraine, terrified and confused. Together we can help ensure that these people have a future.
