CARE International is a humanitarian organisation leading the fight to end poverty in the world’s most challenging situations. Women and girls are at the centre of our work, because we cannot overcome poverty until all people have equal rights and opportunities.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. I am the director responsible for overseas programmes at CARE UK.  Follow me on twitter @v_wickenden

Turkey borders with Syria and currently hosts the largest number of refugees in the world - 3.4m from Syria.  Just 8% of these reside in refugee camps, the rest live within Turkish communities.

CARE has received a large donation from the European Union to support refugees and the communities that host them in Turkey.  As with most European funding to charities, they require us to fundraise for a proportion of the project.  I still need to raise £13,739 for this project and am doing this sponsored bike ride to help raise these funds.  I'd be so grateful for your support.

Your donation will help us support 36,500 adults and children in Syrian refugee communities within Turkey.   No one leaves their home, community and country unless they really have to.  Your donation will help people who have escaped from terrible violence access basic assistance.

Note that I have paid for my trip myself - all your money will go to the project.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
