Swim Down Dementia · 1 September 2021

Alzheimer’s Research UK is the UK’s leading dementia research charity. We’re striving for a cure, by revolutionising the way we treat, diagnose and prevent dementia.

Story

September is Alzheimer's month, and one of their initiatives as a charity is their event 'Swimming Down Dementia' to fund life-changing dementia research in your local pool, lido, or lake.

As part of this challenge you can choose to either swim lengths of a 25m pool (with 33/50m conversion if applicable) or walk steps, and it will be a team effort (similar to the Everest Challenge).

However, to make it more fair for those swimming, we will count 500 steps as a length, and it will be the team that has 'swum' the most lengths, with a combination of walking and swimming, at the end of the month that will win.  For any of you who enjoy a swim in the open water, just count the number of metres and divide by 25 to get the equivalent lengths.  All swimming is counted here!
