London Landmarks Half Marathon 2021 · 1 August 2021 ·
Working in the hospitality industry, the last year has been a real battle at times with lots of lockdown time unable to work and trying to find motivation. In the past few months I have taken to walking and running to keep my mind occupied and found great enjoyment from it. Needing something to work towards, I looked for a challenge and found the LLHM, this seemed a perfect opportunity for myself and to also help others by doing some fundraising.
The HOPE Foundation is a charity my aunty has been involved with as a trustee for the past 3 years. HOPE work in Kolkata, India to help the poorest and most vulnerable children living on the streets and in the city’s slums. HOPE’s work in the UK is to create greater awareness and to raise funds for the 60 different projects run by HOPE Kolkata, such as protections homes, primary and secondary schools, life skills coaching and a hospital. The support and education these kids receive means as adults they are equipped with the tools they need to support themselves and their families, and to live healthy and happy lives.
As a Dad, HOPE’s vision that “it should never hurt to be a child” really resonates with me.
