Journey of a Lifetime - Everest! · 13 September 2017

We’re the only charity fighting to end child abuse in the UK and Channel Islands. That’s why we help children who’ve been abused to rebuild their lives, we protect children at risk, and we find the best ways of preventing child abuse from ever happening.

Story

Hello,

Thank you for taking the time to visit my just giving page.I have worked for Halfords for over 13 years and this year myself and 9 other colleagues have won Halfords Journey of a lifetime competition “JOAL.”While working towards our journey of a lifetime we are aiming to raise £30,000 for the NSPCC.

Our journey of a lifetime starts in the UK…..

At the end of March we are going to be hosting a staycasion event in the Peak District giving children who have been supported by the NSPCC a mini adventure weekend, packed with activity aligned with our company values; with Fun, with a Smile, with Confidence and with Togetherness. One of the activities will be a craft session where children will learn about the Himalayas and create personalised flags, that will then form the basis of our journey of a lifetime.

On the 14th April 2018, we'll embark on our Journey of a lifetime; flying from London to Kathmandu and then on to Lukla before trekking through the Himalayas to Everest Base Camp. A truly amazing adventure! We'll walk 78 miles to an altitude of 17,500" taking in stunning views over 21 days. We'll hang the children's flags at Base Camp. According to traditional Tibetan medicine, health and harmony derive from an equal balance of space, earth, water, fire & air, each represented by a different colour flag.

Any donations you are able to give to help us achieve our target will be greatly appreciated, thank you!
