Story
The Fred Whitton cycling sportive is the hardest in England - you have to cycle high, fast and long to complete it. The 114 miles includes all the major Lake District passes, including Hardknott, Wrynose, Newlands and Kirkstone. The 12,000 ft. height climbed is equivalent to climbing Ben Nevis 3 times. The easier passes are 25% steep, the harder 33%. I've been training for 6 months for it, and expect it will take me about 12 hours to complete it.
I'm raising money for Charity: Water. This charity has an amazing record of providing clean water to some of the poorest communities in the world, so far having funded 35,000 water projects providing clean water to 9.5m people. All the charity expenses are met by a group of wealthy donors - so all money given goes directly to projects delivered by local partners in each county.
Your giving will inspire me to keep going and finish this ride - and I need it - and will directly help some of the poorest people in the world with their most basic physical need.
Thank you
