Story
Whilst it remains top of the list of awkward conversations and dinner party downers, anyone who pays much attention to climate change and the loss of biodiversity (as well as the various other ecological crises we face) knows the outlook for us as a species and our fellow passengers on this planet is pretty grim. #positivevibes #keeponreading #itsforcharity
The reality is, barring a miracle, what we do in the next 5-10 years to address these things will to a large extent determine how my generations’ kids live out their adult lives. At one end of the spectrum we sort ourselves out and work towards a safe and just world that exists within our biophysical boundaries. At the other extreme, well I think we all know it’s BAD (SO SAD) and the pertinent question of our age is really just how f’ed we are #canthisreallybeworsethanbrexit?
So we're all down with the happily ever after story here, right? But what has all this got to do with me riding my bicycle bicycle bicycle? Well, apart from the much needed therapy it provides me with (see above), I am doing it to raise funds for WWF. WWF are at the heart of global efforts to address the world’s most important environmental challenges: safeguarding the natural world, tackling climate change and enabling people to use only their fair share of natural resources.
So please dig deep and give whatever you can to spur me on as I ride like (and with) the wind (powered by the sun) to avert planetary catastrophe.
In the words of the great Jens Voigt: “When my legs hurt, I say: Shut up legs! Do what I tell you to do!”
