Story
Thank you for visiting my page.
My target: To complete the London Marathon in 3 hours (30 mins less than when I was at my physcial peak)
My Challenge: Easing off the pork scratchings, beer, and visits to 151.
My promise: If I reach my target of £2,000 I promise to spend a day of my holiday working with the Children and Charity.
Having completed the London Marathon five years ago I have decided to lace up the running boots once again. Unfortunately, the legs have finally stopped growing and my fitness has been heavily curbed by London life and influential friends - in spite of this I thought a realistic target would be to cut 30 minutes off my previous best.
I have a place with Diageo to run this year’s London Marathon on behalf of the Children’s Society; the work which they carry out is something I was unfamiliar with until now, however the lengths they go to in addressing child neglect and poverty across the UK is impressive, with the majority of money raised being spent directly on services to improve the lives of disadvantaged children. The effort involved in training for this pales in significance to the day-to-day struggles that many of these children suffer. I do hope that you can give generously:
Our extensive network of frontline services and army of volunteers work to tackle child poverty and neglect. Together we help families trapped in debt, support young carers and runaways and stop sexual exploitation.
We fight for change based on the experiences of every child we help and the solid evidence we gather. Through our ambitious campaigns and determination we expose injustice and address hard truths to change attitudes, challenge misconceptions and influence policy.
We are determined, through our campaigning, commitment and care, to give every child the greatest possible chance in life.
