Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
It’s a story as old as time.
Nine years ago, I suffered a subarachnoid haemorrhage - aka a bleed on the brain, aka a haemorrhagic stroke - where my family were told I’d never move the left-hand side of my body ever again and the best life I could ever hope for was that I would never leave a care facility. This also included walking, let alone actually running.
However, with the amazing help of the incredible National Brain Injury Charity, I have indeed relearned to walk again, run the 2018 London Marathon (again for Headway), and most importantly become a dad to the most amazing little boy called Reggie.
I thought things like brain injuries only affected the slightly older generation in society, but I had just enjoyed my 30th birthday when mine occurred - showing it can happen to anyone - and I have met many more inspirational people through Headway, who were just as young as me, if not younger in some cases.
One thing I have been extremely lucky with my brain injury is it has never caused me any pain - unlike many of them. So by running both the Bournemouth Half Marathon and the Leicester Half Marathon - two places very close to my heart - in the month of October, I am more than making up for that! Am I crazy or what?!
