I'm running the Royal Parks Half Marathon for Stroke Association!

Royal Parks Half Marathon 2021 · 10 October 2021 ·
I am running the Royal Parks Half Marathon in aid of the Stroke Association as my family have been greatly affected by the results of strokes in recent years.
After my Dad had his first stroke three years ago, he recovered really well & basically got back to how he was before it happened. And then last year my Granny (his mother) had a stroke in Scotland where she lives so he went up to stay there and try and visit as much as he could; which was not easy in the middle of a pandemic. During his time up north he also suffered another stroke, even worse than the first one. Having a stroke away from home also meant he had to be repatriated 400 miles home & the amazing paramedics even allowed him to stop off at home to see us as we knew there would absolutely no visiting allowed in the hospitals after that.
My Dad and my Granny have inspired me to run this half marathon because it has really shown me how much strokes can affect its victims and their families. We were lucky both of our family members survived as that is not the case for many.
There are over 1.2 million stroke survivors in the UK, with 100,000 strokes happening in the UK each year. That's one stroke every five minutes.Stroke Association believes everyone deserves to live the best life they can after stroke. Your support will help them to provide vital services, campaign for better stroke care and fund research into preventative and rehabilitative treatments. Help me raise as much as possible to help rebuild lives after stroke - thank you!
