St Francis Ride and Stride · 4 July 2020

You may have walked with Christ your whole life. You may be taking tentative first steps in faith. All are welcome here at St Francis. We're an Anglican (Church of England) church in the Diocese of St Albans. Or you might just need to know that we're a supportive, 150-strong community where you can seek peace, find joy and feel God's love. We warmly invite you to worship with us. Or simply join us for a coffee to find out more. However you'd like to meet us, we look forward to meeting you.

Story

My 30:30:10 Challenge - 4 July to 12 July

St Francis relies wholly on donations and hall hire to provide care and support to those in the WGC community and well beyond.  Usual income has been decimated by the closure of both the church (think of the collections plate gathering dust) and the hall (imagine those poor dogs not learning obedience, or the lockdown birthday parties being "stolen" by Zoom) and the cancellation of the annual summer fête.  Unfortunately expenditure has only lessened slightly, meaning shortfalls every month, and no roadmap to when books might start balancing again.

So, in place of the summer fête, St Francis is organising the Stride and Ride and I have challenged myself to cycle 30 miles, run 30 miles and walk 10 miles over a nine-day period (as well as go to work, provide mediocre home-schooling etc).  I've called it the 30:30:10 Challenge; I can't repeat what my knees have called it...

Please pop a few metaphoric coins in the collection plate; whatever you can spare.
