We fund research, awareness and training to increase survival rates of bowel cancer

Story

"Practice what you preach" is an accusation often levelled at healthcare workers! Plymouth is a wonderful city with the sea, coast and moors in near proximity. This encourages outdoor exercise and a healthy diet and lifestyle are recognised as a key part in reducing bowel cancer risk.

We thought as a surgery we would take the opportunity to lead by example and train over the next few weeks to be able to complete the Plymouth 10k, while raising money for Bowel Cancer West in the process.

St. Neots Surgery  will often be the first place their patients will visit with symptoms that may be suggestive of bowel cancer, but diagnosing and treating also involves a much larger part of the NHS. Bowel Cancer West helps fund vital research, awareness and training needed make a difference to the survival rates of patients with bowel cancer.

We are a mixed ability group, some of us having never run a 10k race before but are determined to make sure we all reach the finishing line! Your donations and support during the event (Sunday 7th October, 8:30 start time , Plymouth Guildhall) would be much appreciated.

NB- Please note that this page was created by Dr. Davies on behalf of the St. Neots Strivers, hence the name (William-Davies) at the end of the website address. We would like to reassure all concerned that all donations will go directly to Bowel Cancer West and are at no point held personally by Dr. Davies.
