Story
On the 29th of August 2022 I am taking part in the Kilimanjaro Trek. Myself and students from Plymouth University will take part in a 6 day hike to the summit of the world's largest freestanding mountain. Mount Kilimanjaro, a dormant volcano, stands 5,895m above sea level, we'll find ourselves hiking through remote environments, in high altitudes
We're taking on this tough challenge to raise money for the amazing Meningitis Research Foundation.
Meningitis and sepsis, despite being preventable, kills more children under the age of 5 than malaria, measles, tetanus and AIDs combined!
Affecting more than 5 million people every year, with 1/10 people dying as a result of this, and 2/10 people left with an impairment such as a brain injury or amputation.
The Meningitis Research Foundation is launching the world's first meningitis task force which is aiming to eradicate the disease by 2030. Using your support they will be able to bring together the expertise, experience and government action required to see this awful disease finally defeated.
However this can only be done with your donations...
To raise my goal of £3990 I will be running a range of fundraising events as well as taking part in challenges throughout the year to finally ending the fundraising events off by hiking to the top of Mount Kilimanjaro. All the money raised by these events will be going towards the Meningitis Research Foundation.
