River Stort Marathon · 3 October 2020

Rape Crisis England & Wales is the charity working to end sexual violence and abuse. We are the membership organisation for Rape Crisis Centres who deliver specialist services to those affected by sexual violence in England & Wales. Together we aim to educate, influence and make change.

Story

Due to the Coronavirus and the likelihood all organised running events will be cancelled, I will be running my own marathon in aid of the charity Rape Crisis England & Wales. On the morning of October 3rd or 4th (depending on the weather) I and potentially others will be running the River Stort for a distance of 42km.

Rape Crisis England & Wales is a feminist organisation that provides essential aid to victims of sexual assault and rape with over 40 centres around England and Wales. In 2018/2019 Rape Crisis specialist services were accessed by 79,391 individuals while there were 186,243 online and telephone helpline contacts. Approximately 85,000 women and 12,000 men (aged 16 - 59) experience rape, attempted rape or sexual assault in England and Wales alone every year; that's roughly 11 of the most serious sexual offences every hour.

Please consider donating to help support victims of sexual assault and rape while also aiding in its prevention through education and awareness.
