My Story
Next year I’ll be taking on the Manchester Marathon to raise money for Cancer Research UK.
When I was a teenager, my mum was diagnosed with breast cancer. At an age where you feel like your parents are invincible, hearing that news was frightening.
Thankfully, my mum came through it, but sadly not every family can say the same.
Over the years we’ve had other family members and close friends face their own diagnoses. Like so many people, cancer has touched our lives more than once. This is a reminder that almost everyone knows someone whose life has been changed by this disease.
Cancer Research UK is at the heart of the progress that’s gives families hope. The research they fund has helped improve treatments, increased survival rates, and continues to bring us closer to a future where fewer families have to hear the words, “It’s cancer.”
That’s why I’m running 26.2 miles.
It’ll be one of the toughest physical challenges I’ve ever taken on, but it doesn’t compare to what people living with cancer face every day. Every training run, every mile on race day, and every donation is my way of saying thank you for the progress that’s already been made, and of helping fund the breakthroughs still to come.
If you’re able to support me, no matter the amount, I’d be incredibly grateful. Every donation helps Cancer Research UK continue its life-saving work.
Thank you for being part of this journey.
