Go Neon For NeonatalSupporting the tiny babies and their families in the Neonatal Unit at Russells Hall Hospital
This week Gareth, Felix and I are hoping to raise some money for the Neonatal Unit at Russell’s Hall Hospital. We would love it if you could spare even just a pound to help babies who like Felix who depend on that unit for their very survival.
Many of you know Felix’s story (and it’s a long one) so I’ll spare you lots of gory details but for those that don’t and are wondering why this charity is important to us I hope the below will help you understand.
Felix was born at 27 weeks gestation. I had preeclampsia so we were both poorly.
Felix was massively under developed even for his gestation and weighed 1lb 8oz. He had a rough time in hospital and spent the next five months battling jaundice, sepsis, a whole in his heart, chronic lung disease, swollen heart chamber, losing a kidney, losing part of his thumb, having surgery on a hernia, severe reflux, lung collapses, NEC (twice), chest infections, intubations, extubations, cannulas, long lines, heel pricks, OG tubes, NG tubes..... the list goes on.
Soooooo much effort by sooooo many people went in to keeping our son alive. We will never be able to repay the debt, how could we, they gave us our lives. We would love to be able to give something back though and whatever donations we raise will help other babies who like Felix will depend on Russell’s Hall neonatal to get them home with their families.
Thank you for anything you can donate. Families like ours will be forever grateful.
