Story
I am pleased to announce that I will be running the London Marathon on Sunday October 3rd 2021 in support of the Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Families Association (SSAFA).
SSAFA is a charity that undertakes vital work in providing lifelong support to serving members of the British Army, Royal Navy, and Royal Air Force (both regulars and reserves), as well as veterans and their families.
SSAFA's remit is a broad one, with the charity supporting individuals suffering from a number of issues including addiction, relationship breakdown, debt, homelessness, post-traumatic stress, depression, and disability. In SSAFA's annual report for 2020, the charity supported no fewer than 79,540 individuals with a team of only 4,751 volunteers. These volunteers conduct home visits (both in the UK and overseas), staff helplines, and raise money as well as fulfilling a myriad of other roles.
Given the multi-dimensional nature of SSAFA's work combined with the overall impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on society, the importance of SSAFA is increasingly paramount. Furthermore, NATO's recent withdrawal from Afghanistan has highlighted not only the important work our Armed Forces conduct but has also raised concerns about the mental wellbeing of veterans who served during the 20-year conflict.
Please donate towards this cause as any money you give will go a long way to support those who have served this country and now require our help in return.
Thank you for your support,
Will
