Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

Cyclone24 is the ultimate cycling challenge where teams battle physical exhaustion and mental fatigue, as they take to the velodrome track in teams of six to relay cycle throughout the 24 hour time period.

On Sunday 22nd & Monday 23rd October the following people will be taking part in the endurance test of a life time:

Team 1: Neal Stephens; Darren Gravell; Nigel Talbot; Simon Williams; Ed Wilson; Paul Wyatt.
Team 2: Paul Andrews; Charlie Evans; Kayleigh Lee; David McCarthy; Ryan Williams; Julian Morgan.

The teams will be taking part in aid of PROSTATE CYMRU.

Prostate Cancer kills 12,000 men every year with over 32,000 new cases diagnosed.  Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in Welsh men and over 550 welsh men will die from this disease every year.  Your risk of getting the disease as a Welshman is 1 in 8.  Prostate cancer is 17% more common in Welshmen compared to Englishmen. The reason for this is not known.

For the last decade, Prostate Cymru has sought to:

1. Raise awareness of the risks and signs of prostate cancer amongst the welsh population.
2. Promote understanding of prostate disease, identify red flag symptoms and offer advice to the general public on how to seek early diagnosis and treatment for prostate disorders.
3. Establish ‘state of the art treatments’ for prostate cancer in Wales, through a variety of fundraising events, working closely with Surgeons and Local Health Boards and petitioning the Welsh Government.
4. Facilitate the training of surgical and nursing staff in Welsh
Hospitals to perform new techniques in the treatment of prostate cancer.

As part of its social and community investment programme, Willmott Dixon wants to back the personal causes of the people who work for the company.  A contribution will therefore be made to Prostate Cymru from the Willmott Dixon Foundation for every donation made through this Justgiving page.  Please be assured that your contribution to our fundraising will reach Prostate Cymru in full.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your
details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
