Virgin London Marathon 2015 · 26 April 2015 ·
In 2007, whilst still at school, my friend Ross was diagnosed with B-cell Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. Although I didn't know him at the time, I have become good friends with him since meeting him at university. CLIC Sargent helped Ross' friends and family cope with the incomprehensible news of his cancer diagnosis. In his words, "there aren't enough superlatives to describe the work they put in with my mother and father and for this I will be ever thankful." Ross has now recovered and to celebrate this, and to run in support of the charity that did so much for him, 6 members of our university hockey team are running the marathon in 2015.
On a personal note, I lost a very good school friend, James, last year to pancreatic cancer and will also be raising money in his memory. Unfortunately, James was unable to overcome this aggressive form of cancer and died after a just a matter of months. I hope by running the marathon I can continue to raise awareness of this dreadful disease and help in finding a cure and supporting those currently suffering from it.
