Marie Curie provides care and support for people living with any terminal illness across the UK. Our nurses work night and day in people’s homes and our hospices offer specialist care. We also support people emotionally, provide practical information, and match them with trained volunteers.

Story

For the 10th year, we will be entering teams into the Belfast Marathon Team Relay for Willy’s Warriors 💛💙 And we’ve got one runner running the full marathon!

This year is our biggest yet, with 25 runners across 5 teams taking part in the team relay:

Harry, Dan, Ryan, Stephen M, Michael, David, Amy, Sam, Sara, Rhiannon, Caomhan, Richard, Tiffany, Josie, Justin, Jenny, Jaki, Charlotte, Harry M, Steven P, Lauren, Rachael, Jack, Patrick and Caleb.

We also have Joth taking on the full 26.2 miles — an incredible challenge 💪

And that’s not all….Richard, Rozzy and Dan are taking part in a half marathon, and a marathon in Italy in April 2026 🇮🇹

Willy would have been so proud of us all and the incredible amount of money raised over the past 10 years 💛

Thank you to everyone who's taken part in Willy’s Warriors, and to all who have supported and donated over the years. We are completely blown away and so thankful to be surrounded by such amazing family and friends. Together, we’ve now raised an incredible £20,624 in memory of Willy Knox 💛

We are raising funds for the Belfast Marie Curie Hospice, who were a huge help and support to Willy and the family. Willy once joked he was “the fittest and sickest he’s ever been” after the weekly physiotherapy sessions they provided.

Willy (and sometimes the kids) would go to watch the Belfast Marathon, cheering on runners — often spotting a familiar face and encouraging them along the way. The marathon has since become a meaningful tradition for our family and friends.

Fundraising first began with his daughter Josie making and selling loom-band bracelets and keyrings, raising over £100. From there, it has grown through many incredible efforts — including marathons, walks and events — supporting causes such as Beating Bowel Cancer and Marie Curie.

Thank you so much for your continued support 💛💙
