Story
The Charity
Cure Leukaemia was established in 2003 to give blood cancer patients rapid access to pioneering drug and transplant treatments, by funding a network of specialist research nurses, in major leukaemia centres to deliver world-class clinical trials. This approach has transformed the speed at which ground-breaking clinical trials of new drug and transplant therapies can be assessed, and in the process, given patients for whom standard treatments have failed, access to potentially life-saving drugs.
The Challenge
I'm taking on the tough physical challenge of trekking through Borneo jungle, and up Mount Kinabalu, which at 4,095 metres is the highest mountain in Southeast Asia. It is considered a refuge to Orang-Utans, and I've been reliably informed, leeches. Many leeches.
I will be covering a distance of 60 km over 9 days in almost 90% humidity, and in temperatures 27°C - 32°C.
The Bake Sale
I will be holding a bake sale on 13th June, in Canary Wharf. Details will follow. [Updated].
Direct donations to this page, or eating copious amounts of cake at the Bake Sale will help me reach my target of £1,000 (£2,000 with matched giving), for Cure Leukaemia.
Thanks,
